Just before I left Wales for the hills and moors of Cumbria, I was lucky enough to grab a day out in Snowdonia with my mate Ben Wells. The forecast was good for the day, but by the time we’d driven to the Pass, the cloud was hanging low over Nant Peris, and a fine drizzle was turning all rock slimy.

We headed for the Grade 3 scramble up beside Cyrn Las, then onto the Parson’s Nose for a nice mountaineering-style rock climb. Behind the Nose is a notch, and from here we scrambled the lovely ridge of Clogwyn y Person to gain the main ridge of Crib y Ddysgl. This led on to Crib Goch, then down the North Ridge to the grassy pastures above Dinas Mot. A fine day, and a sad farewell to Wales.
