My last day of the winter season as Fell Top Assessor came and went in a bit of a blur. I had my weather readings to take from the summit, and my report to write, but I also had a booking for a rock climbing course starting that afternoon back home in Snowdonia. I decided on a dawn raid on Helvellyn to allow time for the journey home, and certainly wasn’t disappointed by my last morning on my favourite Lake District fell. A lovely sunrise, sun sparkling off snow and water, the first five ring ouzels of the season, and the summit plateau to myself gave me memories to carry forward to next winter. Here’s just a few photos from that last day – April 9th 2015. Enjoy.
