At last, a sunny day ..with a light breeze and amazing visibility. Walking in the Cambrian mountains with Richard we made our way up towards Plynlimon Fawr. On our way up a rough track we came across a pair of Canada geese with a brood of three nestling near a mountain pond.


Continuing upwards we arrived at Llyn Llygad Rheidol, a glacially formed lake with lovely views of the western face of Plynlimon Fawr

and together with the outflow from the lake, this would make a great place for a wild camp outflow

We crossed the stream and made our way up a rough path to 724m and below that the source of the river Wye.  The breeze picked up on a climb to reach the trig on Plynlimon Fawr, time for lunch. Visibility was awesome – Cardigan Bay, Cadair Idris, Caer Caradog, Clee…
